LEE COUNTY SELECTED TO HOST A LEAD FOR NC FELLOW

LEE COUNTY, NC – April 16, 2024 – Lee County Government is pleased to announce the UNC School of Government has selected the County’s Community Support Services Department to host a Lead for NC Fellow starting in August.

The NC Fellow will assist the County in supporting the development of our RENEW Program, which stands for “Resources for Eliminating barriers, creating New Beginnings, and providing Education for an enhanced Well-being”.

This opportunity will allow Lee County to recruit from a pool of talented students to assist in enhancing the work of local government.

Focus for this individual will be split between several different areas and departments, including human services — mental health, re-entry, court services, Social Services, Public Health, Veteran's Services, community providers and other key partners — while working closely with Lee County Administration to learn about local government at a higher level, as well as with our Re-Entry Coordinator to establish the new Lee County Government Re-Entry Council. The NC Fellow will also assist with Lee County’s Health and Well-being Initiative, and work on the implementation of Lee County's Opioid Funding Strategic Plan.

As growth occurs and community wants and needs change, Lee County Government continues to find creative ways to deliver needed services to our residents.

For more information regarding the NC Fellow and RENEW Program, contact Angelina Noel, Assistant County Manager - Governmental Support at (919) 718-4605, ext. 5500 or anoel@leecountync.gov.
