LEE COUNTY, NC – May 10, 2024 – Starting Monday, May 13, the Lee County Health Department will distribute a limited supply of facemasks to residents to help with respiratory virus prevention.

Masks are available on the first floor of the Lee County Government Center, located at 106 Hillcrest Drive, on Mondays and Wednesdays, and on the first floor of the Buggy Factory, located at 115 Chatham St, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There is a limit of five masks per person while supplies last.

Symptomatic residents should wear a mask upon entering the building.

Updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance recommends that individuals with a respiratory virus stay home and away from others. The recommendations suggest returning to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms have improved. If a fever was present, it must have subsided without use of a fever-reducing medication.

Once an individual has resumed normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next five days to curb disease spread such as enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitted mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses. These precautions are important to protect those most at risk for severe illness.

For more information regarding facemask pickup, please call the Lee County Health Department at 919-718-4640.
