Solid Waste Maintenance Specialist
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Lee County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Solid Waste Maintenance Specialist in the Solid Waste Division of General Services. The person in this position coordinates the operations of the convenience centers and; works with staff to coordinate operational procedures and issues with customers. Provides oversight to employees working in the solid waste area; provides scheduling and direction for work, trains new and existing employees. Coordinates the recovery of recycle materials for shipping. Completes equipment inspections and schedules or completes equipment repair. Prepares work orders and maintenance reports; collects bids for projects. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. Reports to the Solid Waste Superintendent.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working as a heavy equipment operator, working in a landfill with some supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial Drivers License
