Revenue Collection Clerk

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Lee County is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Revenue Collection Clerk in the Tax Office. Essential functions: point of contact for the tax office, answering telephone calls from attorneys and customers in reference to questions about taxes due, taxes paid and values of property. Assisting individuals at the counter by entering payments received in the office for personal property and real estate property, providing information on properties/taxes, accepting documents for listing division as well as the appraisal division. Researching delinquent taxes by name, address, and social security numbers for a means of collecting delinquent taxes. This position also issues mobile home moving permits, bond sheets and collects and issues Schedule B licenses. Employee is responsible for considerable data entry work in recording tax payments and other data in computerized files. Fulfills other collection division duties as prescribed by the Collections Manager. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with taxpayers and the general public. Reports to Tax Collection Manager.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma and six to nine months of experience in collections, preferably in a tax related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
