Community Clinical Social Worker
General Definition of Work
Assesses developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs. Provides interventions to reduce symptoms and connects to resources. Works in the capacity of community social worker. This position will coordinate and collaborate with the Lee County Magistrates’ Office, local law enforcement, Pre-Trial, DJJ, Consolidated Health and Human Services Agency, Lee County Schools, local non-profits, and other local agencies. On-call availability will be a requirement for this position. This position will be supervised by Pre-trial in the Legal Department.
Essential Functions
Perform clinical surveillance primary and secondary level assessments to assess developmental, behavioral or mental health needs. Develops and implements treatment plan and prioritizes goals. Serves as information and referral specialist. Will be available for local law enforcement and magistrate employees needing crisis intervention or assessment of individals, including on an on-call basis. Refers patients to resources to facilitate access to services needed. Services may include: basic necessities, children’s programs, domestic violence resources and other services. Maintains referral lists. Performs case management for patients who need primary care services. Provides ongoing counseling and psycho-educational support to patients. Provides crisis services by managing mental health emergencies when they arise. Documents activities, completes assessments, follow up notes, and phone notes. Monitors and responds to referrals and flags. Provides clinical supervision for social work students and Lee County Government employees persuing their clinical license. Trains and provides consultation for social workers within Lee County Government.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of social, economic and health problems; thorough knowledge of institutions and the methods of the helping process; thorough knowledge of individual and groups behavior; general knowledge of human development and nutrition; general knowledge of the laws pertaining to abuse, neglect and exploitation; ability to identify social problems and needs to assess the ability of individuals and families to utilize services in problem solving; acceptance of rights, responsibilities and differences of others; ability to plan and organize work; ability to understand and interpret laws, policies and regulations; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to prepare reports and maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, social agencies and the general public.
Education and Experience
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience as required by licensing.
