IM Supervisor II - Adult Medicaid

Duties/Responsibilities: The Adult Medicaid Supervisor position is responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of 1 IMC III, 2 IMC III LTC Caseworkers, and 5 IMC II PLA Caseworkers. The supervisor is under the guidance of the Income Maintenance Administrator. Supervision includes training employees, assisting staff with questions, counseling and discipline of employees as needed, and consulting with the Income Maintenance Administrator when major actions need to be taken such as disciplinary actions, implementation of major policy changes, etc. Work involves short-range and some long-range planning; making workload assignment and adjustments including minor organizational changes within the unit; developing budget justifications and documentation; setting work standards and measuring employee performance against those standards; reviewing employee work to prevent or correct errors.

Employees may be called upon in case of disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Lee County. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of all income maintenance programs, forms, and documents used in determining eligibility. Considerable knowledge of the use of the income maintenance manuals. Considerable knowledge of needs, problems, and attitudes of disadvantaged persons. General knowledge of all agency programs and services. General knowledge of community services and programs which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of the budget process. Good mathematical, reasoning, and computational skills. Ability to instruct, organize, direct, and supervise lower-level employees. Ability to learn basic supervisory/management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with workers, supervisors, applicants, and community agencies to obtain pertinent data and to interpret rules and regulations. Ability to present information orally and in written form.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
