Temporary Litter Control/Spotter

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Perform daily litter control. Removes litter, and debris from roadway and rights-of-way. Picks up trash on an assigned route. Performs special collections as warranted; picks up trash from County properties.  Participates in the removal of snow and ice and other emergencies. Performs other duties as required.  Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver License.  Essential functions include; drives trucks over prescribed routes to collect refuse and trash and to transport it to prescribed disposal areas.  Participates in cleaning, care and maintenance of equipment; conducts safety checks prior to operating equipment. Takes Direction from Solid Waste Superintendent to complete daily tasks and meet job site goals. Properly follows all county and OSHA safety procedures.  Good communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast paced environment, which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions and on your feet all day. General knowledge of the operation of automotive equipment; general knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, general knowledge of safe driving practices and occupational hazards of the work; general skill in the operation of automotive equipment; ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with associates.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience driving a vehicle, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
