Income Maintenance Caseworker II - Food Nutrition Services

Duties/Responsibilities: This position is one of thirteen (13) workers assigned to administer the eligibility process in Food and Nutrition Services. The primary purpose of the Food and Nutrition Services Income Maintenance Caseworkers II is to correctly determine an applicant or recipient's household meets federal requirements and are eligible to participate in the Food and Nutrition Services Program. This worker must interview, process, and complete applications, reapplications, recertifications, and changes in the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) system. This worker will be on Food and Nutrition Services intake on a rotating basis and will process these applications. When applications are received by methods other than in person, they will be assigned on a rotating basis. This worker will also maintain an assigned caseload by processing Food and Nutrition Services recertifications, quarterly reports, and changes. They also monitor continual compliance with all program requirements, respond to the client's request for assistance regarding their eligibility or other matters as they arise during the time the case is open and close the case when the client is no longer eligible. Duties also include the administration of the Disaster Food and Nutrition Services Program as needed. Must have the ability to perform tasks involving a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment including work of a computational nature; ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; communicate effectively with people of varied social, economic, and educational backgrounds; and have strong organizational and computer skills.

This position is also required in Shelter Management in case of emergencies or disasters. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement. This position is required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This position could be subject to overtime, which is given in the form of compensatory time.

Minimum Education/Experience: One year experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworkers; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preference will be given to those individuals with current Food and Nutrition Services experience, NC FAST training/knowledge.

**If no qualified IMC II applications are received, we will consider a Work Against position with less than 1 year of IMC I experience.
Salary/Grade: IMC I Grade 61
Starting Salary: $33,684.00
