Opioid Funds FAQ's

How much is Lee County receiving?
Currently, Lee County is expected to receive a total of $7,600,584 during 2022-2038. The Settlement is expected to be paid out over an 18-year period.

Are there limitations on what the funding can be used for?
Yes. Counties and cities are only allowed to spend the funding on very specific items. These items are outlined in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the county and the state. Counties are permitted to spend the funds under Option A items or Option B items.
For a list of Option A items, please click here.
For a list of Option B items, please click here.

Is the County going with Option A or Option B?
Lee County is currently working on a strategic plan in order to include both Option A and Option B items in the plan that will be proposed to the Lee County Board of Commissioners. In order to spend any funding on Option B items, the County must have a strategic plan.

Is the county currently taking proposals?
The Lee County Board of Commissioners approved Lee County's Opioid Settlement Funds Strategic Plan in January of 2024. On February 19, 2024, the Lee County Board of Commissioners approved a funding resolution to direct the expenditures of Opioid Settlement funds in the amount of $1,820,000 over a five year period. Lee County Government will be issuing a request for proposals, RFP from qualified MOUD, Medication for Opioid Use Disorder providers soon. Please check our website for this RFP.

How are the funds being allocated?
Funding allocations must be made by the Lee County Board of Commissioners prior to any funds being spent. The funding resolution directing the expenditures of Opioid Settlement is located here. This funding resolution details the strategy, exhibit, amount, time frame and program description for all funds currently allocated by the Lee County Board of Commissioners.

How will Lee County determine how the money will be spent?
The state has provided options in its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Resources on those options can be found here. Lee County will use this MOA through the strategic plan process to determine what recommendations will be made to the County Commissioners regarding how the money will be spent.
