LEE COUNTY REPORTS 48 NEW CASES OF COVID-19 IN LAST WEEK

LEE COUNTY, NC – April 12, 2021 – Lee County Government (LCG) Health Department confirmed a total of 5,776 residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  This represents an increase of 48 cases since the department’s last report on Monday, April 5th.  At this time, the county reports 76 deaths attributed to COVID-19.  No additional information about individual cases will be shared by the Lee County Health Department in order to maintain patient privacy.

The public is strongly encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the virus.  The Health Department is now accepting registrations for the COVID-19 vaccine from Groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the NCDHHS vaccine rollout plan - covid19.ncdhhs.gov/vaccines.  This means any individual age 18 or older (16+ for Pfizer) is eligible to register for the vaccine.  Once registered, individuals will be scheduled for the next drive-thru vaccination clinic with availability.

To register for the COVID-19 vaccine, individuals may call (919) 842-5744 or to register in Spanish, (919) 718-4640 option 8.  Calls will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM.  There is also an online pre-registration form available at leecountync.gov/covid19.  Once a form is submitted, staff will be in contact within five business days to complete the registration process.

The Health Department reminds individuals that are feeling sick to stay home and away from others until you can be tested for COVID-19.  Individuals that test positive are reminded that they should isolate at home until they can answer “yes” to the following three questions: has it been at least 10 days since your symptoms started; has it been 24 hours since you last had fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications; and have your symptoms, such as coughing and shortness of breath, improved?

If you do not have a primary care physician and you believe you may have COVID-19, you may find a testing location using the NCDHHS resource at covid19.ncdhhs.gov/about-covid-19/testing/find-my-testing-place.

To help prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19, the public is reminded to follow the three W’s – Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth; Wait six feet or more away from others to maintain a safe social distance; and Wash your hands and clean surfaces thoroughly and frequently.
