LEE COUNTY, NC – September 29, 2020 – On Monday, October 5, 2020, Lee County Government plans to reopen or extend public hours at several government facilities including the Main Library, Enrichment Center and San-Lee Park Nature Center.  The County of Lee Transportation System (COLTS) will also resume full operations including the Public Access and Rideability programs.

All county government facilities will employ enhanced cleaning and sanitizing measures and protocols; and all visitors are asked to wear face masks and observe social distancing protocols.  Patrons and visitors of COLTS, the Library, and the Enrichment Center will also be asked to have their temperatures checked upon entry.

COLTS will begin accepting appointments for the Public Access and Rideability transportation services.  To make an appointment, please call (919) 776-7201.   All passengers are required to wear masks.  Pandemic guidelines prohibit drivers from assisting with loading and unloading shopping bags and other personal items – please plan accordingly. 

The Enrichment Center will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM.   The Fitness Room will be limited to three people per hour and is available by appointment only.  Fitness classes will be available on a limited basis and will observe social distancing guidelines.  Space is limited and reservations will be required.  A class schedule will be made available at the Enrichment Center once finalized. Senior Services staff will begin accepting appointments to assist with Medicare Open Enrollment on Thursday, October 1st; the Open Enrollment period runs from October 15th through December 7th.  The Veterans Services Office remains open to the public by appointment only.   The meal program will continue operating under current guidelines with drive-thru pick-up service.  For additional questions about plans at the Enrichment Center, please call (919) 776-0501.

Lee County Libraries will open the Main Library branch in Sanford Monday through Friday from 12 PM until 4 PM.  The library has a maximum occupancy of 50 people.  Library patrons will be allowed entry to the library for thirty minutes to browse the library collections, make their selections, and proceed to check-out.  Patrons will also be able to handle library account related matters and perform limited library services including retrieving print-from-home projects, making copies, and sending faxes.  Loitering is prohibited.  Public access computers are available by appointment only in sixty-minute increments; time is renewable once daily if no one is waiting.  Once the time increment is expired, patrons may not return to the computers until the next day.  Computers will be sanitized between each use.  The Friends of the Lee County Libraries Book Sale Room will be open to one person (two if same family) at a time.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Library will continue to provide Curbside Pick-up Service with the current operating schedule of Monday through Friday from 10 AM until 4 PM with extended hours on Tuesday until 7 PM.  Book drops at both the Main Library and Broadway Branch remain open 24 hours.  All returned books will continue to be quarantined for 96 hours before being returned to the collection for circulation.  Library staff remains available to assist the public by phone and email Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 5 PM.  If you have any questions about Library programs and services, please call (919) 718-4665.
