LEE COUNTY, NC – September 9, 2020 – Lee County Government (LCG) Health Department confirmed a total of 1487 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. This represents an increase of 64 cases since last Monday, August 31st. No additional information about individual cases will be shared by the LCG Health Department in order to maintain patient privacy.
The Health Department reports that 1359 individuals have recovered and resumed normal activities. The department continues to monitor 115 individuals and reports thirteen laboratory confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the first case was reported in March.
Daily updates of COVID-19 cases and demographic data specific to Lee County and statewide are available on N.C. Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Dashboard found at covid19.ncdhhs.gov/dashboard/cases. Based on dashboard data, the rolling seven-day average for new cases in Lee County is 6.28 and the percent positive tests is 7.6%. Case numbers are subject to change as data is verified through the contact tracing process; this will account for small variances between numbers at the local health department and the NCDHHS dashboard.
The Health Department will hold community testing events at 106 Hillcrest Drive every Tuesday in September from 9 AM until 11 AM by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call (984) 368-2112 Monday through Friday from 9 – 11:30 AM or 1:30 – 4:30 PM.
To help prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19, the public is reminded to follow the three W’s – Wear a mask; Wait six feet or more away from others to maintain a safe social distance; and Wash your hands and clean surfaces thoroughly and frequently. Individuals that are feeling sick are reminded to please stay home and away from others. If your symptoms worsen, call your primary care physician who is able to help assess your symptoms and provide additional guidance.
