LEE COUNTY, NC – September 2, 2020 – Lee County Government (LCG) Parks and Recreation will reopen county playgrounds in accordance with Executive Order (EO) 163 this Friday, September 4th at 5 PM. Keeping playground equipment sanitized with public use throughout the day is not feasible; therefore, the public is advised that use of LCG playgrounds is at the public’s own risk.
Additionally, Parks and Recreation outdoor facility rental agreements will be adjusted to allow for the revised public gathering limits outlined in EO 163. The new limits allow for no more than 50 people to gather at outdoor events. Gathering limits will be enforced at all LCG Parks and Recreation outdoor facilities. Indoor facility rentals remain unavailable at this time.
This weekend also marks the close of the 2020 O.T. Sloan Park Pool Season. Public Swim will be available from 1 PM until 5 PM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 5th through 7th. The cost is three dollars ($3) per person. Pool patrons are asked to wear face masks upon entry and when using bathroom facilities; masks may be removed when outside by the pool where social distancing guidelines may be maintained.
On Tuesday, September 8th, LCG Parks and Recreation will reopen the SanLee Park Nature Center to the public from 2 PM until 5 PM Monday through Friday. The Nature Center will be closed Saturday and Sunday. Based on guidance in EO 163, the Nature Center will be open at fifty percent (50%) capacity – no more than 26 individuals will be allowed indoors at one time. Visitors will be asked to wear face masks when indoors.
