LEE COUNTY REPORTS 96 NEW CASES OF COVID-19 THIS WEEK

LEE COUNTY, NC – July 27, 2020 – Lee County Government (LCG) Health Department confirmed a total of 1078 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. No additional information about individual cases will be shared by the LCG Health Department in order to maintain patient privacy.

The Health Department reports that 903 individuals are no longer being monitored by the health department and resumed normal activities. The department continues to monitor 166 individuals and reports nine laboratory confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the first case was reported in March.

Daily updates of COVID-19 cases and demographic data specific to Lee County and statewide are available on N.C. Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Dashboard found at covid19.ncdhhs.gov/dashboard/cases. These numbers are subject to change as data is verified through the contact tracing process; this will account for small variances between numbers at the local health department and the NCDHHS dashboard.

The county will hold a COVID-19 drive-thru community testing event on Tuesday, July 28th at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford. The testing event will run from 8:30 AM until 6 PM and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. To register, please call (919) 542-4991 ext. 1015 for English or 1016 for Spanish. Registration calls will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM.

The Health Department reminds county residents to wear face masks in public, watch your distance to maintain social distancing of six feet or more, and wash hands thoroughly and frequently. If you are sick, please stay home and away from others.
