LEE COUNTY, NC – March 20, 2020 – Lee County Government closed county parks and additional facilities to the public on Friday, March 20, 2020 in response to continued efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Lee County. Employees will continue to report to work and will be available to the public by phone and email from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.
Effective immediately, all county parks are closed including all associated facilities and public restrooms on park properties. Kiwanis Family Park walking trails will remain open to the public. Parks and Recreation has also canceled the Easter egg hunt event, “Eggs-perience” that was scheduled for Saturday, April 4th.
The McSwain Center is closed to the public until further notice. Offices at the facility remain open and employees are available by phone and email.
Public access to the Tax Office will close today at 5 PM. Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, Tax Office employees will be available to the public by phone (Appraisal (919) 718-4660; Collections (919) 718-4662; Listings (919) 718-4661) and email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Tax payments can be made by mail, online or left in the drop box located outside at 106 Hillcrest Drive in Sanford.
The Board of Equalization and Review (BOER) will hold a convening meeting as required by law on Monday, April 6, 2020. The BOER will not hold any hearings on April 6th. The deadline to file a real property assessment appeal remains Friday, April 17, 2020 at 12 PM. The public is encouraged to file appeals as soon as possible.
