The Lee County Government (LCG) Parks and Recreation Department will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, March 19th from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM in the Gordon Wicker Conference Room at the Lee County Government Center located at 106 Hillcrest Drive in Sanford.

The Department is preparing a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant application for improvements at Kiwanis Children’s Park; these would be in addition to improvements already planned as part of the Parks Master Plan project that was approved by the Board of Commissioners in 2018.  Community members are invited to drop-in to the Gordon Wicker Room between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM to talk with LCG Park staff and project consultants to discuss additional features and enhancements they would most like to see at the park.

John Payne, Parks and Recreation Director for LCG said, “The PARTF grant opportunity is a potential funding avenue to complete additional planned but unfunded improvements at Kiwanis Children’s Park.  If we are able to secure a grant, community feedback will help to determine priorities for new and/or enhanced features to be included in the current project plan.”

There is no pre-registration required to participate in the community meeting.  The meeting is open to the public and all are invited to attend and provide feedback.  If you have questions or are unable to attend the meeting but would like to provide feedback, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (919) 775-2107.
