The Lee County Libraries (LCL) Board of Trustees voted at their monthly meeting held on January 2, 2019 to change the business hours at the Broadway Branch located at 206 South Main Street in Broadway.
The LCL Broadway Branch winter hours of operation will be: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 PM to 5 PM; Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM; and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 PM to 2 PM. The branch will remain closed on Sundays and Mondays.
“Staff has monitored everyday use of our libraries and we have noticed a decrease in patronage at the Broadway Branch during evening hours in the colder winter months,” said Beth List, Director of Library Services for Lee County Government (LCG). “The new winter hours focus on being open to our community when residents are most likely to frequent the branch.”
The Broadway Branch houses a small collection of materials that will be updated over the next several weeks and functions as a prime location for patrons to pick up their holds placed within NC Cardinal – the consortium of North Carolina public libraries that share an online catalog and other resources with member libraries that greatly expands the offerings available to member communities.
Like the LCL Main Library in Sanford, the Broadway Branch offers public use computers; seating and study tables; and other library services including copies, printing, and free Wi-Fi. The branch also keeps a small book sale cart made possible by the Friends of Lee County Libraries for patrons looking to make a book purchase.
The new winter hours apply only to the LCL Broadway Branch; the LCL Main Library located at 107 Hawkins Avenue in Sanford remains open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM – 8 PM; Fridays and Saturday from 9 AM – 5 PM; and closed on Sundays.
