RECORD TURNOUT AS EARLY VOTING PERIOD CLOSES IN LEE COUNTY

The Lee County early voting period closed today, Saturday, November 3rd at 1 PM.  The Lee County Government (LCG) Board of Elections reports that 12,548 county residents have already cast their votes in Election 2018; this is 4,109 more early votes cast compared to the last mid-term election in 2014 and represents 34% of eligible voters in Lee County.

“All indications have been that Election 2018 would have a record turnout,” said Parker Holland, LCG Director of Elections, “and we are certainly on-track for that here in Lee County.  I hope we continue to see high participation on Election Day Tuesday.”

Residents who missed out on the early voting period still have the opportunity to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6th.  Polls will open at 6:30 AM and will remain open until 7:30 PM.  Voters are reminded that they must cast their votes at their assigned precinct on Tuesday; early voting sites at the Board of Elections and the McSwain Center will not be open on Election Day.

For more information about the voting process or for help identifying your assigned precinct, please visit the LCG Board of Elections on-line at www.leecountync.gov/Departments/Elections or call 919-718-4646.
