Grounds
The Grounds Division is responsible for the outside appearance of the county’s administrative buildings, parks, ball fields and other recreational facilities.
From March until November grounds crews are busy with the following:
- The weekly cutting and general maintenance of approximately 150 acres of lawns.
- Planting and maintaining flower beds.
- The planting, care and removal of trees and shrubs.
In addition to their general landscaping duties, grounds crews spend March through October maintaining, dragging, and lining the county’s 16 ball fields.

From November through February, grounds crews are busy performing winter maintenance of the County’s landscapes. These duties include leaf removal, seeding, planting, fertilizing, spraying for weed control, tree and shrub pruning, playground maintenance, fence repair and replacement, and the service and repair of equipment.
